This is a complete view of the hiring process from creating/identifying a position to making an appointment. Please note the importance of Electronic Service Requests in this process.
Please read important notes below:
The Request to Fill/Modify (RTF) ESR should be used immediately for:
- Update: Status Grant has been added to "Hold For" form field selection.
- For previously approved and open requisitions, an RTF ESR is not required. A Recruitment ID will be automatically assigned and sent to Departments after Go-LIVE. However, an RTF ESR is still required for a new or borrowed PBT or TPV list.
- Obtaining a List ID on an open and approved requisition in PeopleSoft 7.5. For these RTF ESRs, supporting documentation is not required as they were previously approved

The Conviction History Review (CHR) ESR is to be used for all appointments. Please remember the CHR ESR is now a part of the pre-employment process and must be completed prior to appointment.
- Updated 12/10/12: To expedite the appointment of current CCSF employees, a Confirmation of Fingerprint Number will be issued 24 hours after fingerprinting, if the candidate's DOJ results have not been received. This number can be used on the Appointment Processing Electronic Service Request in place of a CHR Clearance Number.
- If there is a conviction undisclosed by an employee, DHR will notify the department, who will decide to retain or release the employee. The department should give DHR notice of the decision within three (3) business days. If a report is returned with no conviction, DHR will automatically issue a permanent Clearance Number.
- Each ESR allows submission of up to three (3) candidates. If the position is a TEX with four to nine (4-9) candidates, submit multiple ESRs. If TEX with ten (10) or more candidates, attach a spreadsheet of final candidates.

Please read important notes below:
The Appointment Processing (AP) ESR is to be used for all appointments and must be submitted the Friday before the start of the pay period in which the employee will be appointed. Example: For pay period September 1 - September 14, 2012, the AP ESR must be submitted no later than Friday, August 31st, 2012.
JobAps Security Profile Assignment Electronic Service Request
The JobAps Security Profile Assignment ESR is to be used to request JobAps security access and profile assignment for authorized employees.
Authorization to Adopt a List of Eligibles Electronic Service Request (AALE ESR) **Updated 12/20/12**
The Authorization to Adopt a List of Eligibles (AALE ESR) is to be used when requesting to adopt a list of eligibles.
All final submission of the AALE ESR must:
- Be submitted to DHR by noon on the desired adoption date.
- Include an attached PDF of the list of eligibles and job announcement
- And for Position Based Testing, the posting date and adoption date must be the same.
